The Secrets of Russian Cigars
Our guest of honour was Artur Shilyaev — master blender, co-owner of the Siglo de Oro factory and one of the leading experts in Russia’s cigar industry.
The members discussed how cigar production works in Russia, the differences between working with Cuban and Nicaraguan tobaccos, and the challenges facing local manufacturers. Artur spoke about his visits to plantations and his personal selection of rare tobacco varieties for future blends.
The practical session focused on rolling methods, the division of work between torcedores and the distinctive qualities of Media Tiempo leaf. Club members from other cities joined the meeting online, continuing a format that connects the entire community regardless of distance.
