Cigar community event

CONNOISSEUR at the XVI Nicaraguan Lawn

Embassy of Nicaragua, Moscow
CONNOISSEUR at the XVI Nicaraguan Lawn

On July 30, 2026, members of the CONNOISSEUR Cigar Club took part in the XVI Nicaraguan Lawn, one of the most prominent annual events in Russia’s cigar community.

For the sixteenth time, friends of the Russian Cigar Union and Her Excellency Alba Azucena Torres gathered on the grounds of the Embassy of Nicaragua in Moscow. The event brought together more than two hundred guests: representatives of cigar clubs from cities across Russia, diplomats, industry experts, producers and connoisseurs of cigar culture.

CONNOISSEUR members took an active part in the evening. For our club, attending events of this kind is an opportunity not only to discover new cigars, but also to meet colleagues and friends, exchange experience and be part of a broad professional community.

The official cigars of the XVI Nicaraguan Lawn were the new Orishas Lady & Gentlemen. The gentlemen’s version was presented in a more substantial format with a dark wrapper, while the ladies’ version came in a smaller vitola with a light wrapper. The VARVARKA III team offered guests an additional selection of Nicaraguan cigars and provided professional cigar service throughout the event.

The evening’s program brought together cigars, gastronomy, drinks, meetings with authors and live Latin American music. Yet once again its greatest value was conversation — open, friendly and capable of bringing together people from different clubs, cities and professional circles.

Events like this are especially important to CONNOISSEUR. Club life is not limited to our own meetings and private tastings. A genuine community grows through dialogue, new acquaintances and participation in events that shape contemporary cigar culture.

The evening concluded with a large prize draw featuring gifts from partners of the Russian Cigar Union. Luck was on CONNOISSEUR’s side: our fellow members won Villa Massa limoncello, a watch, a chess set and pine nuts.

The final prize was jokingly called the ‘jackpot of the evening’. It went to Konstantin Bal. As Konstantin later admitted, only one of the fifteen tickets he had purchased proved to be a winner — but it gave the club one of the raffle’s most memorable moments.

The evening ended with the traditional Nicaraguan bonfire, live music and continued friendly conversation. The XVI Nicaraguan Lawn once again showed that cigar culture is not only about cigars, but above all about people united by shared values, knowledge and respect for tradition.

We thank the organizers and partners of the event for their hospitality, rich program and the atmosphere of genuine cigar fellowship.

CONNOISSEUR was, is and will remain an active part of the wider cigar community. Until we meet again!
